Blues Bands performing LIVE at the 2015 Timberon Blues Festival are…
Roustabout, maverick, spiritual, gritty, amazing, bad – ass, wild, genius, soulful…. These are a few of the words used to describe this Texas bonafide blue blood. A much revered singer, songwriter, harmonica player, drummer and bandleader. East Texas roadhouse soul by one of America’s true blues/roots originals. He’s been flying in the face of convention his whole career. No smoke, no mirrors, no choreography, no industry machines. Making his way in the music business on the strength of his songs, his soulful voice, his one of a kind live shows, and a whole lot of grease, grit, dirt and spit.
It was March, 2012 when Shawn Hanke and Felix Hernandez had run into each other at a Willie Nelson concert and agreed upon coming together for a jam session that produced a sound neither musician had expected. After a few more weeks of practice and try-outs with various drummers, the first gig in June of 2012 was landed at the annual Street Fest in downtown El Paso. It was in October, 2012 Shawn ran into established local drummer Albert Vallejo and mentioned the need for a full-time drummer. Albert stepped up to the plate, the music changed, and the band began to form into something different.
Sorry About Your Sister is a high-energy mix that has been said to sound like
Hank Williams and Motorhead with just a kick of Johnny Cash.
The Pleasure Pilots is a six piece, New Mexico based band specializing in old school styles of Rhythm ‘n Blues, as well as their own original music… playing songs from the greats such as Amos Milburn, T-Bone Walker, Albert King, Louis Jordan, Ray Charles and Fats Domino just to name a few…
With a driving rhythm section, powerful vocals and musicianship, plus a horn section of top-notch players, they make an exciting line-up and an undeniably cmpelling force behind dancing feet.
Everyday People of El Paso will get you dancing with their high energy mix of Funk and Soul music.
Tim Thompson, El Paso blues musician will keep the live music coming at you between band sets and MC the show.
